Performance award from the PA State Troopers and a sorta poll on which infraction should have been prioritized

have this girl with poor choices in riding footwear on an F800ST for your time.

PA State Police gave me a performance award for speeding today (79/55 ) It’s fine, I know the risks of speeding. 4 lane open straight highway and wasn’t doing much more than the flow of traffic nor was I riding aggressively...but I own it. Gave me a 10 over...they were both decent to me and the one talked to me a good bit while the young one (seemed to be in training) did the paperwork. They actually commended my riding and said I made the right choice in the situation they witnessed after getting close to me...they had to catch up, stationary radar.

A woman decided to do some left lane blocking by slowing down about 15 mph to match with the car in the right lane and then brake checked me hard. I was never really that close to her until she slowed to block, even than backing off. They apparently had gotten close enough right around the time she went full on stupid and happened to witness her pull the hard brake check and my maneuver around her...since she braked so hard I was able to use the gap created to get around her. As soon as I passed her and looked in my mirror I saw the lights go on behind her. I moved immediately to the right lane slowing down to either A) wait for them to pull me over or B) hoping my luck was good enough to see her get nabbed for being a total dolt. She was so daft that they told me it took her around a half mile to slide over to the right lane to get out of their way.

When he asked if I knew why I was pulled over I pointed ahead and asked if it was my altercation with miss brake check and he said no, for speeding. The older cop and I were talking a bit about left lane laws and other simple common sense laws that are ignored by bad drivers etc. They were both decent and weren’t being dicks at all, so I asked how come they decided to pull me for speeding after witnessing her actions, he said they stuck with me as the infraction was a few miles previous and they had already called it in...my gut tells me they thought I was some young guy on a sport bike being aggressive. The bad part about that is this ass clown gets away with that kind of behavior and now feels vindicated. So she will continue to think it’s perfectly fine to do so since the troopers witnessed and did nothing. So I get the ticket, she gets the wrong idea about being right and could potentially kill someone in the future for it.

Again, in no way am I making excuses about getting a speeding ticket. I did it, I got the fine, it is what it is. But my thinking suggests that even though I was speeding, they should have turned their attention toward her behavior as it was far more dangerous than my few miles over the flow of traffic and could have caused an accident or worse. Plus, if she gets pulled over for it she may consider not pulling that trick anymore. What say you Oppo?

It would have been nice if they had gotten her plate and paid her a visit later.

Honestly, it’s kind of bunk that they went after you and not her, as road raging is far more dangerous, but you’ve nailed the most likely reason why they focused on you.

Use a helmet cam or otherwise. Then you could put her plate online and let the internet do the work.

Indeed, you were the easy target. There are fancy claims from the badge wearers that left lane campers and ragers are receiving LEO attention, but I’d love to see an independent audit of said claims.

or at least called on another car to pick her up a few miles down the road, but they seemed really indifferent to her actions.

Did you at least get some pics? BTW, these two made me walk for a month.

I just got popped for doing 60 in a 50 zone on Monday. First time being pulled over on a bike. I felt kind of awkward, taking the seat off my ride to get to my registration.

That’s where mine was...he was happy to just take the insurance card when I told him I needed to get it from there. I felt like they were being cool since I wasn’t a dick and were gonna let me walk with a finger wag...but I was mistaken.

Delaware said it too, but any trip down Rt.1 will tell you otherwise.

this whole thing happened extremely fast...and taking photos while riding something I don’t think I’d try...especially behind someone of questionable mental resources. Think I need a helmet cam as suggested.

Same here in WA. There’s a mild media spectacle about going after left lane bastards, but a drive down many lesser highways on a Sunday morning hints that it might not be a real enforcement blitz. Don’t get me wrong, I respect the work of good cops, but I think there’s some exaggeration out there too.

Hey, lots of things need funding, and most of this is just a tax.

truth...the actual fine is $30....total is $94. I think if they wanted money they certainly could have fleeced her for more.

But going after her would have been more work. It’s no doubt easier to nail a speeder than a lane blocker. Low hanging fruit is a key part of traffic enforcement.

The fines probably have a strategy to them too - large enough to make them worth pursuing, but not so large that they won’t be paid. There’s a decent size group out there with extreme job security and nice pensions, and they aren’t usually fully funded.

I dunno, it would seem an aggressive driving, or whatever charge that behavior nets, a lane block and attempted murder (kidding slightly) would be more revenue. So far as ease, they were behind her before getting to me and I’m sure had video rolling as they told me I was being recorded.

I’m guessing they thought I was riding aggressively since they already clocked me so they assumed I was tailgating...I don’t tailgate when riding but her sudden unexpected decrease in speed did put me close enough that the brake check mattered.

I still think they went after low hanging fruit. Speeding is easy to bring to court - all you need is a calibrated radar slip. The other driving would be harder to prove, if actually caught on camera at all (sometimes they exaggerate). If not on camera, good luck. I’d get flamed in some places for this, but the respective genders and vehicles of those involved could have contributed, too.

Get a helmet cam or one mounted to the bike, could be fun.

24 mph over posted? Were you going to see a blood relative that didn’t have long to live? Wife having a Baby?

Far more dangerous than my few miles over the flow of traffic. How old or you?

If you weren’t dangerous why could she brake check You?

Means you were too close. Going too fast.

Ever ridden a motorcycle? Ever driven a modern car on the interstate?

Modern econo cars effortlessly go 80 mph, and where I live if you don’t do 70+ on an interstate regardless of posted speed limits you ARE the safety hazard. I guarantee I’m well older than you based on your internet righteousness.

I wouldn’t have been close enough for her brake check to matter if she hadn’t prepared by slowing 15 mph suddenly, without just cause, then brake checking. If you are really making an argument that her actions are justified, I fear for the safety of anyone driving behind you.

I admitted I was technically speeding. I owned that part. But the simple fact is there is zero excuse for anyone to brake check...ever. And if I were LE her actions would have warranted more attention than mine if public safety is the primary objective.

I’m not defending the Nimrod driving the car.

I’ve driven 10.000 miles in 6 months.

300 meters follow distance is what we got taught to drive in combat.

So you adjust a bit for Public Highways.

The length of a semi. with trailer is the closet you should have been going at her speed until you can pass her.

If she didn’t pull over out of the Passing LANE.

6691 zapS = Spaz 1966.= 50 years old 51 this year.

5mph over speed limit was fine for me unless I went into the one or two to the left Passing Lanes.

But even if we never agree, I’m glad your ok. I’m glad you had nothing but a good Scare.

So instead of implying I’m young and inexperienced and putting words in my mouth about how since you were speeding you deserve to be spread over the highway in little bits.(I understand, that would be something that happens on the internet.) Why don’t you just reflect And see if you could have done somthing different to avoid the situation of getting brake checked like that.

(Maybe only be in the passing lanes if you can pass? Coming up on slower cars at a more moderate speed until you can get past?) I want you to be on this board a long time to call me young and inexperienced.

As a Military Police and Armed Security Guard, if I didn’t see it and didn’t have proof the DA would dismiss it. Even if she was stopped and ticketed or arrested.
